Casting Call: The Voice of Shrek was not always Mike Myers

From time to time casting is set by a studio, but is changed due to a multiple of factors.  Footage of the late actor Chris Farley (SNL) voicing the character Shrek for Dreamworks has surfaced online via reddit and later in an interview on Yahoo Chris Farleys brother Kevin Farley discussed the reason for the change while promoting the upcoming documentary I Am Chris Farley, which will air on August 10, 2015 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Spike.  "Originally, the Shrek character was a little bit more like Chris, like a humble, bumbling innocent guy," said Kevin, who attributes the recasting to Dreamworks' franchise plans. “The studio needed to do what they needed to do. It was a bad time, bad timing… a tragedy. Mike did a great job with Shrek. He knocked it out of the park.”
