For those of you who have not yet seen Ant-Man this is a spoiler post and you might want to come back once you have seen the movie. *
*Lets say I did not warn you*
During the course of the movie we get a glimpse of Janet Van Dyne’s character The Wasp during a flash back and we learn the fate of this character, which helps explain one of the end credit scenes.
During one of the end credit scenes Hank Pym played (Michael Douglas) leads Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) being led into a secret chamber to reveal a never-before-seen Wasp suit. Hank Pym reveals that he thought he was working on this for her mother, but realized that he was working on it for Hope. She smiles and responds, “It’s about damn time.”
In an interview with Kevin Feige and Slashfilm.com Kevin had this to say about Hope's Character and when will we might possibly see her again.
“It’s a good question, and it will certainly be in phase three. Where exactly in phase three I’m not sure, but it won’t be in Civil War.”
Since it has been confirmed that Paul Rudd is back as Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War and many of the actors who sign a contract with Marvel are signing a several picture deal contract, but it would seem that Evangeline Lilly will not be portraying the role as The Wasp in the film. Feige admits that she was originally written into the Civil War script, but was removed:
“She was included in early versions of Civil War but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out. With Ant-Man, and I’m not saying thats what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we’ve already seen him. We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we’re saving it. But its going to be in Phase three for sure.”
