It would seem that year after year the summer movie schedule begins earlier and earlier each year. Technically the first day of summer begins on June 21, 2015. The problem is Hollywood doesn't think so. Last year at this time we had already been introduced to the summer movie season with the release of Captain America: The Winter Solider. The Winter Solider was released on April 4, 2014 and made $95,023,721 in its opening weekend. This was in the US alone and would go on to gross $259,766,572 domestically, $455,000,000 in foreign totals grossing a total of $714,766,572 world wide on a movie budgeted at $170,000,000 (Estimated). So why wouldn't Hollywood move the Summer movie season up to April. This year is no different. on April 3,2015 Universal released Furious Seven and had an opening weekend with $147,187,040 and so far has brought in $294,410,000 domestically and $858,300,000 for foreign release totaling $1,152,710,000 and will continue to grow until MAY 1, 2015 when a little known movie will be released and is set to break all movie grossing totals.
