On Screen: Star Wars Episode VIII News



Star Wars Celebration has come and gone, but the news continues to float around and why not it is Star Wars News. 

During Star Wars Celebration director Rian Johnson (Looper, Star Wars: Ep VIII) confirmed that STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII will pick up right after the events of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Johnson explained:

“For the first time, we’re breaking Star Wars tradition and starting our movie right where the last one left off. Skellig Michael is an incredibly mystical place. To be there and have that be the first thing we were shooting was an appropriately surreal way to start everything off.”

Star Wars: Episode VIII stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis with the addition of Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to hit theaters December 15, 2017 release.
