In the last couple of days The CW and Berlanti Productions have been adding some characters to the Superhero lineup of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and the new addition to the lineup Supergirl.
With the recent move of Supergirl from CBS to The CW rumors had begun that Superman would be making an appearance. The Network is reporting that they have found their Superman and it is NOT Tom Welling, but Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin.
“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” gushed executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Moving over to Arrow where a new vigilante or TWO have been added to season 5. It is being reported that Josh Segarra (Chicago P.D.) is set to play the vigilante known, as Vigilante and Rick Gonzalez (Mr. Robot) has been cast as Wild Dog.
Vigilante was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez and made his comic book debut in 1983’s New Teen Titans Annual #2. Adrian Chase, a New York City District Attorney, was driven to become the masked anti-hero after his family was killed by crime lords.
Wild Dog was created by Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty and made his debut in the first issue of an eponymous 1987 miniseries. In it, a young man named Jack Wheeler takes on the Wild Dog identity as a means of fighting back after he loses friends to a terrorist bombing and his girlfriend to the Chicago mob.
Now, to see some Legends of Tomorrow. With Legends of Tomorrow it seems they are headed down the path of Earth 2 and bringing us the JSA. It is being reported that Nick Zano (Minority Report) had been cast to play Dr. Nate Heywood, aka the third Commander Steel.
Commander Steel made his first appearance in 1978’s “Steel, The Indestructible Man” #1, but Nate Heywood did not debut until 2007’s “Justice Society of America” #1, where he took up his grandfather’s legacy.
As for The Flash there are some rumblings going on, but no definite news on who will be joining the cast. What we do know is we will see some new recurring characters described as “Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own.”
