It is being reported that Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Ceasar) has been cast as our new Han Solo for the “solo” film scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018.
The Han Solo spinoff will be produced and scripted by Lawrence Kasdan who also co-wrote “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens” and will be joined with his son Jon Kasdan. The Solo film will also be produced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
Kasdan said in a recent Q&A that the Solo film spinoff will NOT dive into the origins of Solo and he had this to say “It will not be, ‘Here’s where he was born and this is how he was raised.’ I think what it will be is, ‘What was he like 10 years earlier?’ . . . But [legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira] Kurosawa once said the heroes are the ones that are still changing and the villains are locked and petrified into what they are.”
The Solo film will not begin shooting until January, but rumor is that Alden will have a cameo in the upcoming Rogue One film slated for December 16, 2016.
Now I don’t know about you, but I am a little excited for this one. Even though Alden is fairly new it could be a good thing. Harrison Ford himself was pretty new and look what he has done. What do you think about the casting of Ehrenreich? Let us know in the comment section below.
