Universal has reportedly added Russell Crowe to join Tom Cruise in their reboot of the Mummy, which is set for release on June 9, 2017. Deadline is reporting that Russell Crowe will be playing a “Jekyll-Like” character in the film. Since Universal is attempting to create a shared universe much like Marvel has done this could be the introduction of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. If this is the case then maybe the recently claimed April 13, 2018 date by Universal could be used for a spin-off starring Russell Crowe.
In recent news Johnny Depp will star as The Invisible Man. Plans are to also include Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein and many of the universal monsters.
In recent years hollywood has tried to remake the classic monster movie and for the most part have failed since the film is more based on action than horror. Lets hope Universal can bring back the magic of the classic monster. What do you think about this new shared universe? Let us know in the comment section below.
