Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book by J. K. Rowling, and will be released as a feature film this November 18. That’s exciting, but there’s more.
When it’s Harry Potter, there’s always more – on Pottermore!
Okay, I sound too much like an ad.
The screenplay of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be published the very day after the movie actually comes out! Turns out, Rowling herself actually wrote this screenplay, which is the first time she ever has for a Harry Potter movie. The publishing companies Little, Scholastic, and Brown and Company, will package the actual script as a book and the sales will begin on November 19. The president of Scholastic’s U.S. Trade Division Ellie Berger has this to say:
With any new writing from J.K. Rowling, we know that we are not only engaging her vast fan base, but are also building a new generation of readers. The much anticipated release of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie marks another magical and exciting moment for film lovers and readers everywhere, and we are absolutely delighted to publish J.K. Rowling’s screenplay debut.
You will be able to purchase the book once it is released on Amazon, iBooks, Google, Kobo, and (of course) Barnes and Noble.
Will you be buying the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? I look forward to reading any script from any movie; goodness knows it’ll help me remember nearly everything said and done from the movie itself. Hardcopy, here I come! Also, don’t forget to keep your eyes open for the play Rowling helped write Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which will be out in July.
