On Screen: Star Wars Rogue One Confirmations!

Ok Meatbags, listen up!! We have some great news about the upcoming new Star Wars movie Rogue One. If you’ve been reading our site or keeping up with all the latest news then you’ll know that this is the first stand alone Star Wars movie to be made, and if you didn’t know that….. well, now ya do.

Whats this mean you ask? Well, it’s the first movie out of three to be made that basically acts as a filler between the existing movies. These stand alone movies will give us some great backstory to some of the greatest characters or events that we have never witnessed within the movies, but did within the old “Legends” canon. For all of you who didn’t previously follow the old expanded universe in the books, the ones Disney threw out the window when they bought out Lucas, this will give you a chance or opportunity to experience them and the great thing about this is that the decision makers over at Disney have already made the “Han Solo Trilogy” official canon. Which is awesome sauce!

So, coming back to the original topic here. More information was released this weekend with some excellent facts or confirmations for Rogue One. On March 3rd, the shareholders at Disney were shown new footage and pictures of the upcoming film. Now, this was Disney’s annual shareholders meeting so as you can imagine a lot of other boring stuff was discussed too. But, Disney Chief Bob Iger was quoted saying this…

It’s our first original standalone Star Wars story. It’s about a band of rebels who are plotting to steal the plans for the Death Star. The action takes place right before the events in the very first Star Wars movie, Episode IV, which was called A New Hope. And I can’t wait for you to see it, it’s in theaters this December.”

RIGHT BEFORE?! Right before Episode 4: A New Hope? Previously, Disney had said that it took place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. This is spectacular news everyone, this also opens up the door to possibly including characters we’ve only read about in the new comics or books. Could we see the crew from Disney’s TV series Rebels possibly? I’m hoping so!

I also found more information from SlashFilm which includes this quote…….

Most of it was very quick. A shot of the black stormtrooper, possibly called Death Troopers as previously reported, another pic of that same style of helmet and armor but all chrome, reminiscent of Captain Phasma from The Force Awakens, an image showed two AT-ATs that had a slightly different look with the door panel on the side of the body painted a lighter beige color. And a couple cast photos were shown, one of Felicity & Diego Luna and another of Donnie Yen. The clip featured Felicity’s character on what looked like the inside of a ship or shuttle with her arm up holding on and the hatch/ramp open behind her. I wish I could remember what she said as part of the sizzle but it went by too fast. The new stormtroopers looked great. … It all looked great, had a classic Star Wars/A New Hope look & feel. Bob Iger said that they didn’t have footage but that it & Episode VIII had been filming as previously stated. I’m definitely more excited for the film since it will be set close to the classic trilogy time & like I said it definitely had a similar look/feel.”

WOW!! This is sounding so freaking badass!! I’m so excited folks, I hope you are too.

What?! There’s more?! Oh yes, there is! The best news of all, comes from Makingstarwars.net. VADER IS BACK!! Or.. wait….. arrives…. or…. damn never mind. Yes in deed folks, we get to see Darth Vader in action!! This is Epic good news!

  1. WHOA! So excited over here, particularly when I found out Darth Vader is coming back!!! I can’t wait (whoops, understatement). Thanks for the info!
By the way, can you write a post on all the Star Wars canon novels and comics? I really want to start reading those, but I have no idea where to start and in what order and whatnot. That would be super helpful!!
    Great work, keep it up!
