Casting Call: Stephen King’s The Dark Tower

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

For years this has been a project that has been in development hell.  In recent years director Ron Howard was attached to create a film and television series, but was canceled due to budget concerns.  Recently the project has landed in the hands of director Nikolaj Arcel who is also credited with writing duties, which also include Akiva GoldsmanAnders Thomas Jensen and Jeff Pinkner.

When it comes to casting both Idris Alba  and Matthew McConaughey have been rumored to have been cast, but we now know that Abbey Lee (Thanks to Deadline.com)has been in talks to join the cast.

The Gunslinger is set for a January 13, 2017 release date kicking off a seven film franchise known as The Dark Tower.

Now I for one am very interested in this and I hope the casting news is not just rumors. We would love to know your thoughts. Let us know what you think in the comment section below

  1. This should be really good. The material is there to make a great series of movies. While both actors look great for the role, i’d personally go with McConaughey with his recent weight loss and almost emancipated look, lol! Haven’t read the entire series but I’ve heard great things!
