With the success of the Marvel Cinimatic Universe several studios and franchises will attempt to create their own Cinimatic universe. Reports are that the Transformers will create their own cinematic universe, but so will Universal Studios with their classic movie monsters try to create their own cinematic universe.
Universal Movie Mosnters ran from the 1920s to the 1950s. The series began with The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera, both silent films starring Lon Chaney. Universal continued with talkies including monster franchises Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. The films often featured Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney, Jr. Now Universal is bringing back such great characters.
Deadline is reporting that Johnny Depp will star as The Invisible Man. The Invisible Man written by HG Wells in 1897 and was originally adapted for screen in 1933. The Invisible Man was played by Claude Raines.
Universals Movie Monsters will begin The Mummy, which is set to hit theaters June 9, 2017. The Mummy is written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) and will stars Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella as the title monster.
