As we inch closer and closer to the release of Star Wars: Rogue One rumors have begun to spread on who is who and what is what. No remember these are just rumors, but they have the potential to be a SPOILER so please read at your own risk.
The guys over at Making Star Wars have come across a few things that sound very interesting when it comes to characters and code names. As far as we know Star Wars: Rogue one is the story of Rebels set out on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, but who are these rebels seen below?
Star Wars: Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Jonathan Aris and this is what we know so far:
-
Felicity Jones’ character is codenamed Green Seal Leader by the production.
-
Seal Communicator Blue is Jiang Wen’s character (the guy with the red armor on behind Donnie Yen in the cast photo).
-
Eel Commander is Forest Whitaker’s character. This faction destination has led me to speculate he’s a bounty hunter affiliated character.
-
Seal Droid is Alan Tudyk’s character. (
-
The bad guys have codenames related to sharks.
-
The factions when coded amount to seals, eels, and sharks.
When it comes to Alan Tudyk his character has been described as a more than just a droid. He has been described as a commando droid and he looks awesome.
Details on Forrest Whitaker seem to be going the route of Bounty Hunter, but here are a few details:
Forest Whitaker’s character uses a cane.
It appears he has one leg and uses a cane as a crutch to walk.
He appears to be a veteran of some battles, but it isn’t clear if he lost his leg fighting in the Clone Wars or against the Empire.
Based on a differentiated code name from the rest of the rebels in the movie, it appears he is likely good but maybe a bounty hunter affiliated type…
He seems to be a “good guy” in Rogue One.
He has a cape and his costume is a hodgepodge of different things (think of someone you might see at Maz’s castle).
Then there is some speculation surrounding Ben Mendelsohn’s character and how he might be the BIG baddie of the film.
here is a bad guy or person of some importance to the Empire. His main feature is a huge majestic white cape with a slit in the back. In the film there is a beautiful shot of this Imperial treading through a shallow body of water with said cape trailing him. The figure that wears it appears to be an older male. I’m told he has a badass sidearm and a really cool name. We’re fairly certain this is Ben Mendelsohn’s character but that’s not 100% or verified at this time.
No as we said these are rumors and speculations, but they sound interesting. What do you think about the rumors or do you just not care until the finish product hits the big screen on December 16, 2016?
