Deadline is reporting that Director McG (Terminator Salvation) is in talks to take over the live action re-boot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe for Sony Pictures. If McG signs on to taker over the film he will oversee the rewrite of the script first, which was written by Alex Litvak (Predators) and Mike Finch (The November Man).
Masters of the Universe (commonly referred to as He-Man, after the lead hero) is a media franchise created by Mattel in 1982. The main premise revolves around the conflict between the heroic He-Man and the evil Skeletor on the planet Eternia, with a vast line-up of supporting characters in a hybrid setting of medieval sword and sorcery and sci-fi technology.
The Masters of the Universe movie has gone through a number of writers and directors in the past few years lets just hope McG is the right fit for such an iconic 80’s character.
