Artist Alley: Life-Size DC Characters in LEGO

Lego is a line of plastic construction toys that are manufactured by The Lego Group, a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. The company’s flagship product, Lego, consists of colorful interlocking plastic bricks accompanying an array of gears, figurines called minifigures, and various other parts. Lego has been around since 1949 and since than has grown to become one of the most powerful brands in 2015.

The lego brand has acquired many licenses such as Marvel, Warner Bros, Disney and Star Wars to name a few, but sometimes it is just the ability to build your own creation that can be the best part of playing with Lego.

Take Nathan Sawaya “an award-winning artist who creates awe-inspiring works of art out of some of the most unlikely things. His global touring exhibitions, THE ART OF THE BRICK, feature large-scale sculptures using only toy building blocks: LEGO® bricks to be exact. His work is obsessively and painstakingly crafted and is both beautiful and playful.” Natan has combined both his love of DC Comics and his love of Lego and created some amazing sculptures. Nathan has created these amazing sculptures for the  The Art of the Brick: DC Comics exhibit at the Powerhouse Museum That will be running until May 1, 2016 in Sydney, Australia.  Nathan’s sculpts range from Batman, Aquaman and even a batmobile.  Check out a few of his sculpts below.
