35 years ago the film adaptation of Flash Gordon hit the big screen and and will be celebrated on November 28, 2015 in London, England.
From Bif Bang Pow!’s site:
In December, 1980, the film “Flash Gordon” first hit cinema screens like a bolt of lightning.
Produced by Dino Delaurentis and helmed by director Mike Hodges, the kaleidoscopic worlds and inhabitants of Mongo burst into life like no comic property seen before or since, all accompanied by a legendary QUEEN soundtrack.
Now, 35 years later, an event at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, iconic headquarters of the famous awards, celebrates this great film with a screening of the film that has been a fan favorite and inspiration since it’s debut. For the first time, many of the cast and crew that helped bring “Flash Gordon” to “life” will converge for one night only.
Confirmed guests include:
Sam J Jones (Flash Gordon)
Melody Anderson (Dale Arden)
Brian Blessed (Prince Vultan)
Ornella Muti (Princess Aura)
Deep Roy (Princess Aura’s Pet)
Howard Blake (Composer)
George Gibbs (SFX Supervisor)
Dave Watson (SFX Supervisor)
Trevor Butterfield (Hawksman and MingsGuard)
With more to be announced.
The evening will begin at 6pm on a small red carpet leading into the venue, (with space for photographers as cast, crew and ticket holders enter the venue)…Ticket holders will then enjoy a reception before moving into the Princess Anne Theatre where they will enjoy a screening of the 1980 classic “Flash Gordon” – with thanks to Studio Canal.
After the screening, the cast and crew will take to the stage and take part in a Q&A, moderated by actor/producer and Bif Bang Pow! founder Jason Lenzi. The night will close with an after party, at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, where the ticket holders can meet the cast and crew in a social and informal setting.
To HELP celebrate this historic event, artist Alex Ross has created a stunning and unique print inspired by the occasion that is available to all ticket holders before being released as a print to the public next year.
All profits from the event will be donated to a charity yet to be announced.
