On The Shelf: #StarWars Shattered Empire new character revealed

Star Wars: Shattered Empire 1 is set to hit the comic book shelf on September 9, 2015. Shattered Empire is written by Greg Rucka (Batman: No Man’s Land, Gotham Central) and penciled by Marco Checchetto (Avengers World, Vol 1).  Shattered Empire is set between Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and is scheduled to be published on September 9, 2015.

Within the alternative cover for book 2 of the series we are introduced to a new character: “A picture is worth a thousand words,” the official site teases. “It’s been said very often. But the one above feels more like a thousand questions. Who is that standing beside the starship that resembles an A-Wing? Is she a Jedi? A friend to the Rebels? It’s a safe bet bounty hunters continued offering their services after the collapse of the Empire…The First Order is still decades away, and it’s safe to assume Luke, Han, and Leia have a lot on their plate after overthrowing the governing force that controlled the galaxy.”

Force Awakens book 2 alt cover

Unknown if this new character will have any direct ties to The Force Awakens, which hits theatres on December 18, 2015, but the title indicates that we are on Journey to The Force Awakens.  Marvel’s synopsis of Shattered Empire, which introduces us to our new female character: “High above the forest moon of Endor, the Rebel Alliance makes their desperate last stand against the might of the Empire. Though they are successful in the destruction of the second Death Star, the Empire is far from beaten. Now, follow Shara Bey, an A-Wing pilot in the Rebel Fleet in the days following the Battle of Endor. Though their super weapon has been destroyed, Shara will discover that just how dangerous and unpredictable a shattered Empire can be!”

Book 1 will be released on September 2, 2015 followed by Book 2 on September 9, 2015.
