The Daily Mail is reporting that the late Peter Cushing who played Grand Moff Tarkin will be digitally resurrected for Star Wars: Rogue One. “This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever. Cushing is a pivotal plot line as he was the one to create Darth Vader and there’s a whole back story that will come out.” Sources close to the mirror also stated that “They are going through hours and hours of old footage from the horror movies to recreate his legs and feet to produce realistic movements,’ said the source. ‘It is eerie to see someone who has been dead for so long come to life on a screen.”
Now just because we have the technology to recreate does not always mean that we should. If they have deleted footage that would fit into the new film then run with it, but how about getting someone to replace Cushing much like they did in Star Wars Episode III and used Wayne Pygram or better yet I would love to see Charles Dance (Game of Thrones as Tywin Lannister)
On the other hand at this time we have no clue who is who and rumors of Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline) as a member of the cast would be a good choice to play Tarkin or he could be someone completely new.
Other actors who would also be a good fit:
Only those close to LucasArts and Disney know what and who, but these are just a few ideas that might not be bad. Anyone else have any thoughts?
