The next installment of the street level Marvel characters will be Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos, Jones first appeared in Alias #1 (November 2001) as a former superheroine who became the owner and sole employee of Alias Private Investigations and is married to Luke Cage.
Character creator Brian Michael Bendis shared:
“The show is so good. I have seen the first couple of episodes and because I didn’t work on it directly I can say this with full no ego fanfare: I loved it!![…] it is faithful and lively and everything that I could personally have wanted from the show.”
In the comics, under the super alias “Jewel,” Jones played by Krysten Ritter (Big Eyes)falls under Killgrave’s mind control powers and is forced into a life of unwanted sex and violence. Zebediah, who is purple in the comics, is an abuser and clouds Jones’ judgement of herself forces her to do these unwanted acts thus becoming her ultimate foe played by David Tennant (Dr. Who).
“Jessica Jones” is set to be a darker side of Marvel sistering with Netflix’s “Daredevil,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” series. Series premiere is set for December 2015.
