As a child who grew up in the 80’s we had some amazing cartoons from G.I. Joe, Transformers and many more. Recently on a youtube bing I visited many of my old favorites, but not to watch the show itself, but to hear the great and not so great intros for these shows. It is hard to rate the shows in the top 10 or 20, but some of course are better than others.
So if you are kid of the 80’s this is for you.
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a half-hour American animated television series based on the successful toyline from Hasbro and the comic book series from Marvel Comics. The cartoon had its beginnings with two five-part mini-series in 1983 and 1984, then became a regular series that ran in syndication from 1985 to 1986.
After the pilot thirteen further episodes were commissioned for the first season of the series, and the pilot was re-aired, now with the title “More Than Meets the Eye.” Running from September to December 1984, the series established important new concepts that would persist through the rest of its run, such as the Decepticon Space Bridge, and featured the debuts of several new characters that would be available in the toyline the following year – the Dinobots (leader Grimlock, Slag and Sludge.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an American animated television series produced by Filmation based on Mattel’s successful toy line Masters of the Universe. The show, often referred to as simply He-Man, was one of the most popular animated children’s shows of the 1980s, and has retained a heavy cult following to this day.
These of course were my go to shows, but the 80’s were filled with many other shows that I also enjoyed.
A total of 75 syndicated episodes of M.A.S.K. were broadcast from 1985 to 1986. One of many cartoons produced during the 1980s as a vehicle for toy merchandising, M.A.S.K. (which is an acronym for the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand), was a hybrid of popular era cartoons G.I. Joe and The Transformers.
This list can go on and on, but i would be remissed if i didn’t add shows that I also watch, but it was due to the fact that I had a younger sister. On occasion we watched the following shows.
So what are some of your favorites? There are many shows not listed such as Scooby Doo, Pac-Man, Woozles, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Gummie Bears, Heath Cliff and many many more. Share in the comments and share some links. Who watched the Get-Along Gang, Shirt Tales, Pound Puppies or Inspector Gadget? Many of these shows have begun to resurface, but there is nothing like a classic and the nostalgia it brings.
