On Screen: Godzilla 2

In 2014 Gareth Edwards launched the Godzilla reboot which grossed over $200 million domestically and over $520 million globally making this the highest grossing Godzilla in film history.  During San Diego Comic-Con in 2014, Legendary Pictures revealed that the sequel to Godzilla would be released on June 8, 2018.  Legendary Pictures also reported that we can expect to see other monsters such as:

The question is in what order.  Recently screenwriter Max Borenstein (Godzilla) sat down with Collider.com to discuss his upcoming Minority Report TV series for Fox, but was asked on the status of of the Godzilla sequal set for 2018.

“I’m writing it now, and it’s really going to be great. I don’t want to go off book and tell you anything that I’m not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We’re really stoked.”

Borenstein also reflected on the relationship between him and Gareth Edwards (Godzilla and who is currently filming Star Wars: Rogue One) and their collaboration.  “Yeah, I hope. He’s making Star Wars right now, so he’s a little preoccupied, but yeah. Gareth is amazing. It’s exciting to get to work with him again. One of the fun things about that experience is the same fun that it’s been on [Minority Report], where you really get to have your fingers in the pie.”

Godzilla 2 is set to be released on June 8, 2018 with both Max Borenstein (Writer) and Gareth Edwards(Director) returning to the Godzilla franchise.
