The Oculus Rift or what is also refereed to as the Rift is a virtual reality head-mounted display developed by Oculus VR. Initially proposed on Kickstarter. The campaign was able to raised US$2.4 million for the development of the product and has since been purchased by Facebook in 2014.
The Oculas has gone through several models and is set to be released in Q1 of 2016. The Rift will be one of the first consumer-targeted virtual reality headsets to hit the market. In its current state the Rift has a resolution of 1080×1200 per eye, a 90 HZ refresh rate with a wide view. Within the headset alone it will have integrated headphones that will provide spatialized audio, which will help give the user a better impression of a sound source within a three-dimensional environment. The Rift also gives the user a full 6 degree of freedom rotation with positional tracking, which is created through a separate unit not within the Rift itself.
So with that being said what kind of gaming will we get? Well, Thanks to two HammerheadVR Studios we just might get a little Star Wars action.
