The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Warner Bros. will be moving Joseph Gordon-Levitts adaptation of the Sandman to New Line.
“The move is part of a larger reshuffling of the deck between DC Comics and its edgy imprint Vertigo. DC projects, those involving the four-color heroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman and Flash, and are — or could be — part of an interconnected cinematic release, will remain in the Warner fold.”
The move makes sense that to distinguish properties from the tight wearing superhero to the more dark universe and graphic stories Vertigo is known for. Vertigo titles include Sandman, Hellblazer, 100 Bullets, Fables, Y the Last Man, and American Vampire to name a few. Now if Marvel decides to move forward on these titles and others they will not fall into the lager DC Cinematic Universe and can either be a stand alone or create their own Cinematic universe.
