Production finally started in Boston on the long awaited Ghostbusters sequel. Directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) Created by Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis Written by Katie Dippold (The Heat) & Paul Feig (Spy) and starring Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Kate McKinnon (SNL), Cecily Strong (SNL), Leslie Jones (SNL) and Chris Hemsworth (Avengers).
In an interview with comingsoon.net Feig discussed the different genres of film in the comedic style, but a new Ghostbusters take could be fun “…I love the original film, but I also just love the idea of busting ghosts and kind of paranormal warriors. I thought, ‘You know, if I could do this with the funny women I know and kind of just do a new origin story…’ I’m more interested in what would happen today. You know, you see things on TV about ghosts, but none of it’s real. What if, suddenly, something started happening? What happens when that just begins to happen to people? Also, how do they develop their technology? It’s not as fun if they’re just handed their proton packs. It’s why it’s not as fun to do a sequel. The fun is getting there.”
Now we don’t know for sure on what the plot of the story is, but in an interview with Comic Book Resource Dan Aykroyd had this to say “It refers to the first two in a really neat, classy way, but this is all going to introduce them to a whole new generation of girls that are going to want to be Ghostbusters. We always needed them. It’s going to be hot! The new one’s going to be big! The interplay, and with each of them, their individual voices are so well defined. They’re just such different characters, and there’s a friction. There’s a dynamic there. I’m not going to spoil it for people, but it’s going to be big, big! This one with the four girls is going to be massive. Oh, man, it’s funny. It’s intelligent. It hits the right notes, and I’m really excited about it.
Set to be released on July 22, 2016 and don’t forget its going to be BIG, BIG, Big!!! and here are a few set photos that have been leaked.
