From Pages to Screen: AKIRA!!!!!!

Marco Ramirez (Daredevil, Sons of Anarky) has been hired by Warner Bros. to write the live action adaptation screenplay for Katsuhiro Otomo‘s popular anime and six-volume manga story Akira.

On December 6, 1982 when a nuclear explosion destroys Tokyo, which begins World War III. By 2019, a new city called Neo-Tokyo has been built on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay, but is gripped by anti-government terrorism and gang violence.

In 1988 Akira was adapted into an animated feature film that was written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo (Steamboy, Akira) who also wrote the graphic novel.
