On Friday the 29th of may it was reported that Disney KILLED TRON 3.
Tron was set to begin shooting this coming October in Vancouver, but was never given the green light. Since the news broke Lucas Lowman a fan of the franchise began the Tron 3 petition on Change.org. The following statement within the petition released by Lowman reads as followed: “Tron: Legacy grossed over 400 million dollars and helped more fully realize the world created in the original Tron. It’s a shame that Disney has elected not to move forward with a third Tron film as the universe is ripe to be explored. Sign this petition so that we may show Disney that The Grid is too great to never be shown again and to prove that Flynn lives.”
As of today Monday, June 1, 2015 he is already up to 13,920 signatures and his goal is 15,000. Now the petition might not do any good, but if you don’t sign it we will never know. If you are interested in helping save the TRON franchise head over to https://www.change.org/p/walt-disney-revive-tron-3.
Now we don’t fully know why the film was cancelled, but it could have been due to the disappointment of Tomorrowland that was released in theaters on May 22 and has only grossed $63 million in domestic ticket sales. It all seemed like things were going according to plans as director Joseph Kosinski and stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde were all set to return in Tron 3.
Another way to petition is to let your voice be heard on Twitter #Flynnlives
#TRON3 #Disney #Flynnlives
