Casting Call: Spider-Man and the Front-Runners

As we continue to wait and see who will be Spider-Man who will make his Marvel Cinematic Debut in Captain America: Civil War, but we are also waiting to see who will Direct the Stand-Alone Spider-Man Movie for Sony Pictures.

So far it looks like Jonathan Levine (50/50); Ted Melfi (St. Vincent); Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect); John Francis Daley (Vacation)and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses); and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite). What do you think of these names? It would seem that Sony is going for a comedic director and makes sense since Peter Parker has a comedic vibe to his Spider-Man persona.

images“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said previously about the new Spider-Man. “You just don’t know it yet… In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics.”
