In order to celebrate Star Wars Day I have decided release an early version of my Film Friday post.
The Phantom Edit was originally circulated in Hollywood studios in 2000 and 2001, and was followed by media attention from NPR, PBS, and the BBC along with some small news outlets.
It was later to be rumor that The Phantom Edit was Kevin Smith,(Clerks) who admitted to having seen the edit but denied the rumor that he was the editor. It was later revealed that the editor was Mike J. Nichols (The Edit Doctor) in a September 2001 edition of the Washington Post.
