In 1962 two men met while attending a puppeteer convention held in Utah. It was this initial meeting that Caroll Spinney was noticed by the Muppeteer himself Jim Henson. I wouldn’t be until 1969 when Carol and Jim met once again at the puppeteer convention held in Utah that would put Caroll on the map.
In 1969 the world was introduced to two characters that to this day are recognizable by anyone and it was all due to a little show called Sesame Street. In 1969 we would meet Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch who have been an integral part of of Sesame Street and almost everyone’s childhood.
On May 6, 2015 Director/Writer Dave LaMattina and Director Chad N. Walker bring us I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story. With appearances by Frank Oz, Jim Henson, and several members of the Sesame Street Crew.
