Today during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration news of the standalone Star Wars movies were announced. These films will be known as the Star Wars Anthology Films. The first film to be released will be Star Wars: Rogue One. Star Wars: Rogue One will not be a film about Jedi, but rather the story of a rogue band of resistance fighters unite for a mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring a new hope to the galaxy.” Edwards confirmed that it takes place after Episode III, before Episode IV, and “closer to Episode IV.
Star Wars: Rogue One is set to be released on December 16, 2016 and Directed by Gareth Edwards(Godzilla 2014)
